ABSTRACT

The text investigates the ongoing transformative changes in the defence sectors of Germany and Poland in light of shifting geopolitical dynamics and changing threat perceptions. Germany, being the third-largest contributor to aerospace and defence exports, grapples with challenges like regulatory constraints and public opposition. In contrast, under perceived threats from the East, Poland adopts a more assertive stance but faces hurdles due to its dependence on imports and a peripheral position in the European Union. The work probes into the scope and productive potential of the defence industries in both nations, their significant dependence on imports for high-end defence equipment, and the trials and prospects inherent in their individual defence strategies. It underscores the imperative for Germany to guarantee the efficacy of reforms, embrace a pragmatic outlook towards national security, and align with a strategically autonomous Europe. As for Poland, advised measures involve bolstering relationships with Western allies, manoeuvring through the challenges of defence modernisation, and maintaining political stability. The choices made by both nations will significantly influence their military prowess, strategic independence, and geopolitical clout, underlining the necessity of adaptable defence strategies, forward-thinking policy-making, and progress within the defence industry.
